Raymarine A50D Chart Plotter, Fish Finder & Transducer

I have been dreaming about getting a proper chart plotter since the first time I wandered into the local marine store.  Well this past weekend I found myself in the marine shop again with a fresh cup of Tim Horton’s coffee, and my $400 gift card/store credit burning a hole in my pocket, I finally gave in and bought one. It really was a deal too good to pass up. The Raymarine A50D is a chart plotter/fish finder/depth meter that comes pre-loaded with the Great Lakes Charts and Coastal Charts.  It includes a transducer that is intended to be mounted on the transom but after talking with the helpful staff, I learned that it is possible to mount it as an ‘in hull’ transducer if you are willing to give up a little bit of clarity.

I can’t wait to install this on my pedestal and its giving me added incentive to get on with the ‘soggy cockpit sole’ project.
